Practice Resources
Intermediate Orchestra

Our Intermediate Orchestra is for people who have been playing their instrument for about two years and have typically been playing with one of our Area Bands or Training Orchestra Groups for one year.

The Intermediate Orchestra is somewhat different to traditional orchestras in that it offers members training in many different musical styles and settings, including some performances that require players to learn music by ear and improvise. Music played includes classical, film, popular, Latin American and other world music styles.

In the last couple of years, the orchestra has:

  • Given formal concerts at the Albert Hall and Nottingham Castle
  • Helped to lead Christmas celebrations in the City
  • Played on the big outdoor stage at the Nottingham 'Light Nights' festival
  • Performed in many Schools around the City

If you have been playing for about two years and/or been a member of one of our Area Bands or Training Orchestra Groups, are able to commit to regular rehearsals and want to develop your skills in a variety of musical styles while making new friends: get in touch to apply for a place.
